HOW TO APPLY FOR THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR

The Apply Philly Charter website will be inaccessible from January 23 through February 25 for school year 2024-2025 applicants. If you’d like to consult with one of our enrollment specialists about options for your student during this period and be reminded via email, call, or text when the website reopens so that you can complete an application, please complete the form linked below.

Please note: If you are looking for a seat for your child for the current school year (2023-2024), please contact us using the phone number above for instructions on how to apply. If you intend to apply for school year 2024-2025, please do not submit an application for the current school year in Apply Philly Charter. Applications must be submitted for the correct school year in order to be eligible.

Hardy Williams Elementary is a citywide charter elementary school serving 575 students and their families in Kindergarten through 6th grade. Hardy Williams is a special place where your child will experience the joy of learning in a safe, positive environment. We focus on 5 core values: respect, responsibility, hard work, teamwork and kindness.  Students who attend Hardy Williams Elementary have the opportunity to automatically attend our Hardy Williams High Campus for 7th – 12th grade, thus giving them a full K-12 Mastery experience.  From music to art to field trips-Our students take part in a well-rounded education.  We work closely with our families to ensure Hardy Williams is a place where every child loves to learn.

Our School

  • Students come to school excited to start their day with their laptop in hand.  
  • The day starts with free breakfast.
  • Students are greeted by their teacher and head to their classroom for morning meeting.  
  • We value reading.  Students have at least 2-3 hours of reading where they work in small groups with the teacher.  
  • Students have classes in math, social studies, and science.
  • Students head back to the cafeteria to enjoy free lunch.
  • Afterwards, students enjoy free play or structured recess.
  • Students engage in art, physical education, music and Spanish. We are proud to educate the whole child at Mastery.
  • Once the school day is over, students may stay to participate in clubs or the aftercare program.

Hardy Williams Elementary offers a variety of after school activities and clubs.  Aftercare is available at the school until 6pm.

Students are required to wear uniforms daily. Students are able to wear any color sneakers. Students should wear a gray polo with the Mastery Charter Hardy Williams logo and navy blue  pants/skirt/shorts. Students can wear a solid gray, black, or navy blue sweater with no logos on it. Student are not allowed to wear hoodies. Hijabs and over garments must be solid gray, black, or navy blue.

Any student living in Philadelphia is eligible to apply for the lottery at Hardy Williams Elementary. We give preference to students with siblings currently attending the school.

Marsha Ramdeen, Principal

Marsha Ramdeen, born in Trinidad & Tobago and immigrated to the US when she was 11. She moved to Hillside, New Jersey where she attended middle and high school. Over the course of the last 20 years, Ms. Ramdeen served as an Special Education teacher, Department Chair, Legal Compliance & Policy Specialist and Assistant Principal.  Most recently, Ms. Ramdeen served as Assistance Principal  of Specialized Services at Hardy Williams High School for two and a half years.

Ms. Ramdeen earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Criminal Justice from The University of North Carolina (Wilmington), a Master of School Administration North Carolina State University.

Ms. Ramdeen brings to Hardy Williams El a passion for students and working to ensure they have all the tools necessary to be successful in each step of their educational journey. Outside of school Ms. Ramdeen can be found playing with her dog Apollo, hanging with her family/friends and trying new recipes in the kitchen.
