We believe educational inequity is the most pressing social problem facing our country and the civil rights issue of our day. At Mastery, we aspire to create and sustain a high-performing school district that serves all students with excellence. We educate more than 14,000 students in Philadelphia and Camden, proudly serving students in grades K-12.
Our student body is predominantly made up of students of color from under resourced communities, and almost three-quarters of our schools are turnarounds of chronically low-performing district or charter schools that struggled with low-quality instruction, unsupportive school culture, and low student expectations.
Working at Mastery means making a difference every day. In partnership with school and central office leaders, families, partners and community members, you will be part of a warm, joyful, student-centered, and welcoming school environment and empower students to thrive.
At Mastery, we value our teachers and offer a competitive compensation and benefits package. Teacher salaries begin at $60,000 annually, with the potential to earn up to $106,500 based on years of experience and performance.
We believe in rewarding success through performance-based pay to ensure that hard work is recognized. In addition to a competitive salary, we provide comprehensive health insurance that covers 85% of the cost for you and your family, and our generous retirement plans allow you to invest in your future.

We believe in fostering a strong and inclusive school community where everyone feels valued and supported. At Mastery, we understand the profound impact of culture, race, and identity on teaching, learning and interaction. This leads our dedication to developing our staff’s cultural competence, enabling authentic student-staff relationships that contribute to student achievement. We also deeply value the role of our families, recognizing them as our partners in their student’s success.
Data drives our decision making, helping to inform our instruction, programming and improvement efforts. Our teachers and leaders are empowered to take ownership of their students’ success, providing them with the autonomy to build upon our shared foundation and cater to the unique needs of their school communities.
We employ an operational model with interlocking management systems for talent management, instructional effectiveness, data and assessment, school culture, student support, and active leadership.
