Raymond Fields serves as the Deputy Chief of Leadership Initiatives of Mastery Schools. With over 19 years of experience, he brings a wealth of knowledge to the role. Fields has an extensive history at Mastery Schools, where he was the founding principal of two schools— Gratz Prep Middle and Mastery Prep Elementary.
Previously, he served as the Chief Talent Officer at the Pennsylvania Department of Education, where he led the strategic vision and implementation of talent management initiatives to strengthen and diversify the educator workforce across the commonwealth. He also served as the executive director of an educator pathway program focused on preparing and placing effective teachers in high-need schools.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and african-american studies from the University of Maryland-College Park, and a master’s degree in teaching from Mercer University. Fields’s greatest pride and joy is his son, Sekou Zion. He is also an avid world traveler and fitness enthusiast. He is deeply passionate about strengthening the Black and Latinx educator pipeline to ensure that students have both windows and mirrors of themselves.
