Peter Langer is the proud principal of Thomas Elementary. Throughout his long career in education, he has worked as a teacher, coach, and assistant principal. He also previously served as principal at Simon Gratz High School and Thomas Campus before being appointed to his current role.
Principal Langer holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame, a teaching degree from the University of Pennsylvania, a principal certification from Relay Graduate School of Education, and a master’s degree in school leadership from Saint Joseph’s University.
Originally from Buffalo, New York, Principal Langer has called Philadelphia home since 2006 and has lived in South Philadelphia for over a decade. One of the reasons he enjoys working at Thomas is that he resides in the same neighborhood as his students, allowing him to see them in and outside of school regularly. He believes that Thomas Elementary has the best students, parents, and teachers in all of Philadelphia, and he is determined to make the school the best neighborhood elementary school in the city. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his daughter, exercising, gardening, and attending or watching live sports!
