Onome Emore serves as the Chief Operations Officer for Mastery Schools. In this role, she oversees various functions of the network, including student enrollment, hiring and recruitment, and building operations. She is a dedicated leader with over a decade of experience guiding large, complex organizations to success. Known for her strategic leadership, operational efficiency, innovation, team management, and stakeholder engagement expertise, Emore consistently brings out the best in the organizations she works with.
As the founder and CEO of Bai’Zeh Consulting, she draws on her extensive experience to help a diverse range of organizations and leaders navigate the complexities of maintaining robust and healthy operations. Her consultancy focuses on enhancing operational efficiencies and amplifying the impact of organizational programs. Before founding Bai’Zeh Consulting, Emore served as the chief operations officer at Hopeworks in Camden, NJ, where she played a key role in transforming operational processes and implementing technology-driven solutions across various functions.
While with the Camden City School District, Emore led an executive leadership team as chief of staff. In this role, she was instrumental in implementing the district’s strategic vision, including a comprehensive redesign of the district’s portfolio. Her leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic was especially commendable as she developed and executed a response plan for students, staff, and families.
As chief operations officer, she managed key functional and business areas, negotiated large, complex union contracts, and achieved significant budget savings, demonstrating her ability to address unique organizational challenges. Earlier in her career, Emore contributed significantly to the New Jersey Department of Education. She led the design and implementation of a revised charter school accountability framework, ensuring compliance and successful charter renewals across the state.
Her foundational experience includes serving as the founding principal of Philadelphia’s first turnaround school, Young Scholars Frederick Douglass, a Pre-K through 8th-grade school, where she significantly increased student enrollment, attendance, acceptance into high-performing and high-quality high schools, and performance on state assessments, setting the stage for long-term academic success.
Emore holds two master’s degrees in educational leadership from Concordia University and curriculum and teaching from Fordham University. She also has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and African Studies from the University of Maryland- College Park.
