Molly Getz serves as the Deputy Chief Academic Officer for Mastery Schools. She began her career as an educator in Philadelphia through Teach For America. During her first year as a teacher, she taught 7th and 8th-grade English Language Arts for the School District of Philadelphia’s Pickett Middle School. When Mastery took over the campus as its 4th turnaround school in 2007, Getz stayed on for the transition. Over a span of 16 years at Mastery, she has also served as an instructional coach and curriculum director. Getz holds a bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College and a master’s degree in education from the University of Pennsylvania. As a self-proclaimed life-long learner, she believes education has the power to open doors and break down systemic barriers.
