Derrick Cartwright is the proud principal of Shoemaker Campus. Before becoming the school’s leader in 2022, he served as an assistant principal of instruction at the campus for 3 years. Prior to that, he was a math teacher at schools in Cincinnati and Philadelphia.

Principal Cartwright is committed to serving the West Philadelphia community by ensuring that Shoemaker students and families have every opportunity to succeed. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati. He is also a Neubauer Fellow with the Philadelphia Academy of School Leaders.
