Shoemaker Campus student wins prestigious QuestBridge National College Match Scholarship

Amyia Topping, a twelfth grader at Shoemaker Campus, has been awarded the highly competitive QuestBridge National College Match Scholarship. The full-ride scholarship will cover direct costs, including tuition, fees, and housing, and she will receive additional funding to cover the costs of books, travel, and personal expenses.

QuestBridge is a national program that provides high-achieving students in underresourced communities with full scholarships to some of the nation’s top colleges. During the 2024-2025 school year, more than 25,500 students applied for the scholarship, but only 2,627 were matched with a college. Topping was one of only 24 students matched with Washington and Lee University in Virginia, one of the nation’s top 20 liberal arts colleges.

She is an outstanding student who shows a deep commitment to her education. She has devoted numerous hours to writing, revising, and rewriting essays for QuestBridge. Her efforts and dedication have been rewarded, enabling her to attend her dream school without financial concerns.

Winning the National College Match Scholarship proved to me that the work I put into my education pays off,” she said. “Being granted this scholarship will stop me from stressing about student loans and how I would pay for college. It gives me the opportunity not to compromise the quality of my education.”

Topping’s success reflects the hard work and commitment of the Shoemaker’s teachers, leaders, and postsecondary team. They provided her with the preparation and opportunities essential for earning this prestigious award. Mastery remains dedicated to ensuring all students gain the academic and personal skills they need to pursue their dreams and succeed after graduation.
