Across the Mastery Schools network, cheerleading provides students with an opportunity to build relationships and confidence through teamwork and school spirit. It has also broadened students’ horizons, giving them the chance to compete against other teams in the state, region, and country.  

Mastery’s cheerleading teams demonstrated their athleticism and skills during the annual cheerleading competitions. Teams from several campuses gathered at Pickett Campus and Simon Gratz High School, bringing electric energy and school pride to the mat. With support from coaches, family, and school staff, each student-athlete performed with joy and pride, showcasing true passion for the sport. 

At the high school competition, the teams from Pickett Campus and Lenfest Campus emerged as winners in various categories, and the teams at Smedley Elementary and Frederick Douglass Elementary were named winners of the elementary and middle school competition. 

From athleticism to teamwork, participating in extracurricular activities like this provides Mastery students with skills that will help them thrive both inside and outside of the classroom.
