Mastery Charter School last week hosted College Signing Day, to commemorate the 694 graduates who will be moving on to post-secondary education and other opportunities, including two- and four-year colleges and universities, the military, workforce and job training programs.

The festive event took place at Temple University’s Liacouras Center on Tuesday, June 8. Collectively, the graduates earned $20 million in scholarships and boasted a 98 percent post-secondary acceptance rate, according to a news release.

Among the graduates were Tamiyah Miller, from the Simon Gratz campus and part of the CCP Dual Enrollment cohort, which she will finish with 16 credits. Miller has been accepted to Gettysburg College where she will attend on a full scholarship.

An honor roll student at Mastery’s Simon Gratz campus, graduate Toni Ellis has been accepted to Lincoln University. She is credited with being dedicated to Gratz, where she helped out with numerous school activities, including the school’s enrollment team and back-to-school nights.

Davina Hampton, from Mastery’s Lenfest Campus, has been accepted to Franklin & Marshall. She traveled to London and Paris last summer and has worked part time at a day care. Hampton was active in such organizations as Minds Matter, BeGirlWorld and I Plant This Seed.

Jonathan Lopez committed to the United States Marine Corps, where he will work as a Communications Specialist. He deploys on July 5.
