Mastery High School of Camden received a $250,000 grant from the Camden Education Fund to develop research-based, in-house employment, and life skills program for students ages 18 through 21 with low-incidence disabilities.
Ocier Bernard, a junior at Camden Prep High School, says his reading difficulties in the past yielded him a report card with straight F’s.
Not anymore.
Since the beginning of the school year, Bernard has participated in an intervention program at his school and now is proud to share his progress.
“I went from F’s to B’s. My grades skyrocketed,” Bernard told educators at a Camden Education Fund event celebrating $1.1 million in two-year grants to five high schools in the city to develop programs similar to the one that gave Bernard his boost.
