Alonda Tann – Mastery’s first Social Worker

Lenfest Campus

Alonda Tann doesn’t take her title as Mastery’s first Social Worker lightly. Over the past 13 years she has served the students and families at Mastery Charter’s Lenfest campus in many capacities including SW, Yearbook Advisor, Prom Coordinator, EC Supervisor, College Completion Coach, and Grade Team Lead. Daily, she puts students first and provides guidance, counseling, and wisdom to them that lasts beyond their time at Mastery. Her presence, words, and personality are a steady and welcome constant on Lenfest’s campus.  Alonda obtained an undergraduate degree in Sociology from the University of Delaware and a Masters of Social Services from Bryn Mawr College. Post grad school, she was employed at Peoples Emergency Center in West Philadelphia where she worked as a case manager for homeless youth and families. It was this work and her desire to help break the cyclical nature of homelessness that led her to Mastery.  Aside from being influential in development of Mastery’s SW systems, Alonda has worked on the advisory board for the Storiez trauma narrative intervention program and Bryn Mawr College’s field advisory committee. She is always looking for ways to increase her knowledge base and better serve her students and families.
