Postsecondary Pathways
We offer four distinct postsecondary pathways for students to choose from. Students are informed about the academic, social, and emotional requirements associated with postsecondary pathways early and often during their high school experience and supported to choose a path that aligns with their interests and skills during their senior year.
Two-year college programs allow students to earn associate degrees or professional certificates. Most two-year colleges are non-residential and offer flexible admissions and scheduling options for students who plan to work while attending college. During senior seminar, postsecondary advisors will assist your student in creating a tailored list of two-year colleges, applying to those colleges, starting the FAFSA process, and navigating financial aid options.
Four-year college programs enable students to earn bachelor’s degrees in a variety of academic fields. During senior seminar, postsecondary advisors will assist your student in creating a tailored list of four-year colleges, applying to those colleges, starting the FAFSA process, and navigating financial aid options.
Mastery’s workforce development pathway provides students with an accessible and practical route into the job market by supporting them in pursuing various programs that will enable them to earn professional credentials and qualifications for in-demand careers. These programs include tuition-based certificate courses, union apprenticeships, and even free job training options. During senior seminar, postsecondary advisors will support your student to explore workforce development options more deeply through site visits and conversations with program representatives. After creating a list of programs that align with their career interests, advisors will help students narrow down the best-fit program and support them through the enrollment steps.
Students interested in serving in the military may enlist as a full-time active duty service member in the National Guard or as a part-time service member in the military reserves. Students interested in becoming officers may apply to a service academy or join ROTC at a four-year university. During senior seminar, a postsecondary advisor will help your student determine which branch of the military is the best fit for them. They will also have the opportunity to take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery assessment and consult with a recruiter.
Postsecondary Planning
To graduate and receive a Mastery high school diploma, students must meet state-specific course credit requirements and choose one of the four graduation plans outlined by the Pennsylvania Department of Education or one of the three graduation plans provided by the state of New Jersey.
