Welcome to Mastery Prep Elementary, a free, public charter school in North Philadelphia. We offer children academic excellence in a fun, joyful environment. From math to music and reading to field trips, our students receive a well-rounded education from loving teachers and leaders.

In addition to academics, we focus on five core values: respect, responsibility, hard work, teamwork and kindness.

Prep Elementary students have the opportunity to attend Gratz Prep Middle and Simon Gratz High, giving them the full K-12 Mastery experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the name of the after care company?

Mastery Prep Elementary partners with “Change 4A Dollar” after care program. We believe that this organization would be the best match for our school. “Change 4A Dollar” operates each school day from dismissal until 6 p.m.  All students in grades K-6 are eligible to join.

 

Will all students be eligible for school lunch?

All students attending Mastery Prep Elementary are eligible to receive free breakfast and lunch. Please be sure to complete the “Household Income Survey” to ensure that we are able to continue to make these meals available to all students.

 

When will I receive school bus information?

We are working with the school district to provide school bus transportation to all eligible students. We will send this information via email and postal service as soon as we have the details.

 

School Hours

  • Doors open at 7:45 AM (breakfast is served until 7:55 AM)
  • Academic day begins at 7:55 AM
  • Academic day ends at 3:25 PM
  • Prep Elementary uniforms are available for purchase on the school website: masterycharterstores.com
  • All families receive a free uniform voucher from the school at the beginning of each school year. This is redeemable at the front desk at the school. Vouchers are typically available at the end of July for the upcoming school year.
  • At Prep Elementary, students in grades K-2 wear a blue polo with the Mastery logo with navy or black bottoms and the shoes of their choice. Students in grades 3-6 wear a navy blazer with the Mastery logo, a white oxford shirt, tie, with navy or black bottoms and shoes of their choice.

Any student living in Philadelphia is eligible to apply for the lottery at Mastery Prep Elementary, however, preference is given to students living in the 19140 zip code.

Eugene Haith Principal Leader

Eugene Haith, Principal

Eugene Haith is the proud principal of Mastery Prep Elementary.  Entering his 2nd year of being principal at Mastery Prep Elementary, Eugene was a founding member of the charter school, beginning his tenure there as the Assistant Principal of Specialized Services.  Prior to joining Mastery, Eugene served as a Math Teacher, Climate Manager & Assistant Principal at various academic institutions in the city of Philadelphia for the past 17 years.

Eugene was born and raised in Philadelphia, and conducted all of his formal schooling from Kindergarten, up and through his current pursuit of a Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership in the city of Philadelphia. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, a Master of Business Administration in Computer Science, and a Master of Science in Special Education.  Eugene also is a former college athlete, who has been inducted twice into the Jefferson University(formerly Philadelphia College of Textiles & Science and Philadelphia University) Hall of Fame.

Eugene’s vision for Mastery Prep Elementary is that all students are achieving at a high level, able to fully express themselves and who they represent, and have fun while doing it.
