Do I need specific credentials or certification to apply to Mastery?
Mastery Charter Schools comply with all federal and state certification requirements for charter school teachers. If you are not certified, you must be enrolled in a program that leads to certification by the time you start at Mastery. You can be certified in a state other than Pennsylvania. If you are out-of-state certified, Mastery’s HR department will walk you through the steps needed to attain Pennsylvania certification.
Mastery has many schools. How will my placement be determined?
During the application process, you can specify your school, grade level, and subject area preferences. The Recruitment Team will review your preferences when considering your placement. However, all applications to Mastery are reviewed for all of our schools and the ultimate placement decision is based on your qualifications and your fit with the needs of a particular school.
What opportunities will be available for the 2014-15 school year?
We currently anticipate that we will be expanding our network of schools within Philadelphia, as well as potentially growing to schools in Camden, NJ. If these plans come to fruition, we will have employment opportunities at all new schools. In addition, we will be increasing student enrollment at some of our existing campuses, and will thus have employment opportunities there as well. Overall, it is likely that we will be hiring 150-200 new teachers for the 2014-15 school year.
What does Mastery’s benefits package include?
All regular full-time employees and their spouses/domestic partners and dependents are eligible to participate in comprehensive health, dental and vision plans. All employees are eligible to participate in a 403b plan; those already enrolled in PSERs are eligible to continue and may also participate in a supplemental 403b plan. All employees can receive Tuition Reimbursement of $1,000 annually as a reimbursement for education coursework or certification testing and related expenses.
What professional development opportunities does Mastery offer?
Mastery offers frequent opportunities for high-quality professional development to all staff members. New Mastery teachers attend a two-year Induction program to collaborate with fellow new staff members and learn strategies to ensure student success in their classrooms. Opportunities for all staff members include regular classroom observations with feedback, grade and content-team trainings, and bi-monthly Data Days. Mastery’s coaching program provides teachers with 6 weeks of 1:1 coaching to target individual areas for growth.

After I apply, when will I hear back from Mastery?
After you submit your online application, you will receive an email confirming that it has been received. If you do not receive this e-mail within 24 hours, please check your junk mail or spam folder. If your qualifications meet our current needs, the Recruitment Team will contact you about the next steps in the process. Due to the high volume of applications we receive on a daily basis, we are unable to respond to individual inquiries about application status.
